      Elias Ronneberg Flikke, 91, of Halifax and formerly of Antigonish, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2006 in his sleep, with his wife, Doris, at his side in the Glades Lodge, Halifax.
      Born in the valley of Flikke, near the city of Stavanger, Norway, he was the son of the late Gabriel and Lotte (Ronneberg) Flikke. He was a Norwegian war Veteran, who in his earlier years worked for Power Brothers of Lunenburg, and later with Silver and Hanifan, Antigonish. Elias was a proud Legion member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #59, Antigonish.
      He is survived by his wife, the former Doris Knickle, Halifax; brothers and sisters, Oddy, Arne, Magne and Gerd. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Bernt, Judith, Otter and his stepmother Marie.
      Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. #3, Lunenburg. Funeral service was held Friday, February 10, 2006 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Kenneth Wild officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Hearing Society, Alzheimer Society or the Antigonish Heritage Museum.
