Karen Elisa Rønneberg was the sixth child of Elias Rønneberg and Karen Sybilla Rodder Baade. She was born October 24, 1814 in Walderhaug, Sunnmøre fylke (county). Norway.
On September 24, 1835 she married her first cousin, Andreas Severin Rønneberg. Andreas was the son of Elias' brother, Rasmus, and Gjertrud Helene Wiig. They had only two children, Karen and Konrad Gerhard Andreas (1844-ca. 1895), before Andreas died on July 13, 1846 in Aalesund.
Karen married a second time to Lars Petter Kolbeinson Barstad (b. January 12, 1821, d. April 18, 1901) sometime prior to 1857, when they had a son, Karl Ludvig Larsson Barstad.
Karen Elisa Rønneberg Barstad died in Aalesund on March 25, 1908 and is also buried in the family plot at Borgund Kirke.
Karen Elisa and Andreas' daughter, Elisa Rasmine, married Colbein Andreas Barstad, the son of Lars Petter Barstad's half-brother, Nils Barstad. They were 1st cousins by marriage, not by blood.
