Alvin Ronneberg
Alvin L. Ronneberg, 60 of Tidewater (LincolnCo.) died Sept. 19, 2001 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, from complications resulting from a fall at his father-in-law’s house in Helper, Utah.
He was born in Big Timber, Montana on May 5, 1941.
He attended schools in Big Timber, and graduated from Sweet Grass County High School in 1959. He graduated from Western Montana College in Dillon in 1963. He taught and was a successful coach at Joliet High School for about four years before moving to Oregon.
He was a teacher at Toledo High School for 29 years and also coached football, basketball, and track. He served as athletic director of Toledo High during the last few years of his career. He retired 5 years ago.
He was an avid sports fan at all levels of competition. He also enjoyed traveling, gardening and crossword puzzles. He was a member of the local athletic booster club, the Retired Oregon State Athletic Directors Association and the Toledo Elks Lodge #1664.
Survivors include his wife Bobbie Ronneberg of Tidewater; a stepdaughter and a son-in-law, Cindy and Andy of Tucson, Ariz; a granddaughter, Bryana of Tucson, Ariz, a stepson and daughter-in-law, Marty and Heidi, of Tidewater, his father-in-law Frank Tomsic of Helper, Utah; his mother, Vivian of Big Timber, Montana; brothers and sisters-in-laws: John and Diane, Carl and Jeanette, and Randy, all of Big Timber, Montana; sisters and brother-in-laws, Carol and Spencer Jarett and Marilyn and Jim Zabroscki, both of Miles City and many nieces and nephews. His father preceded him in death in 1969.
A celebration of his life will be held from 3 p.m., Saturday at the Toledo Elks Lodge.
