Andrew Gabriel Anderson and his brother Hans came to the United States and settled in Chicago. Andrew was apparently 18 when he arrived in this country. He fell into the Chicago river, which was very dirty. Upon being rescued,, he was filled the spirits to revive him, and he stated he remembered little afterwards. Andrew moved to Morris, Illinois and started a general store. Brother Hans (Cyrus’s father) worked for Andrew in the store. Andrew’s partner was Erickson. Funds disappeared from the cash box which finally led to bankruptcy. Andrew married shortly after bankruptcy. Hans, Erickson and Andrew, went to work for Clarence’s (unknown surname) wholesale shoe business. Hans then went into the wholesale shoe business with Andrew working for him. Hans, also, took over his father-in-laws’ business, which was custom clothes for Sears. Hans operated both business until his health failed. Upon Hans’s death, Andrew staightened his affairs and continued the clothing business and one day was robbed of the payroll by men in an automobile after 1907. This incident is unusual in that it was the first automobile robbery committed in the United States. (”The above information was given to us by my mother, Wilhelmina Anderson Ronneberg.
