  • Notes
I 1898 giftet Alida and Carl Ludvig seg.

Alida’s husband Carl Ludvig Lehmann Meyer was first married Anna Rønneberg. Anna and Carl Ludvig had 8 children. When Anna died in 1897, Carl Ludvig sent for Alida Rønneberg (Anna’s sister) to help him with the housekeeping and the children. In 1898, Carl Ludvig married Alida, his sister-in-law.

Before Alida came to Bergen to help with the housekeeping and the children, she was engaged to be married to a man from Seljie named Daniel. It has been told to me that Alida asked if she had to return her engagement ring to Daniel when she married Carl Ludvig. In many ways this is a sad story. Alida and Carl Ludvig had four children. So, with Anna’s eight children and her four children with Carl Ludvig, Alida had to care for twelve children.

Alida’s sister, Anna, was my mother’s grandmother, however, my mother called Alida grandmother. I feel sure that all the other grandchildren of Anna’s called Alida grandmother. After all, Anna died long before any of her grandchildren were born. By Per Rønneberg Bremnes
